Bittersweet Love

Last night, we got to cater an opening night reception for the dance concert "Bittersweet Love", presented by Duarden Contemporary Dance Theater.

While waiting for the house to open, the audience enjoyed drinks as well as mini caprese skewers; bruschetta; and a fresh fruit platter. For dessert: dark chocolate brownies topped with strawberry icing, fresh rasberries, and a mint leaf garnish.

Opening night saw a full house packed into the 45 seat Lex Theater in Hollywood. This young, talented, and energetic company presented a series of pieces exploring relationships from every angle, choreographed by Artistic Director Cassandra Duarden.

The show runs this weekend only; last chance to see it is Sunday 6.13! For tickets and info, visit www.nohodance.com.

wedding day

Recently, I had the privilege of catering a lovely wedding for the sweetest family. And, I quite fell in love with the venue that they chose for both the ceremony and reception: the Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church of Pasadena. You can see more pix of the space here:

Beautiful. And, did I mention that it's a caterer's dream site? Huge kitchen.... super easy loading and unloading, with easy access to the kitchen while staying out of the way of guests.... gorgeous reception hall, accented by an old-fashioned pipe organ... and the highlight for me: the onsite compost bin! I was quite in love.

After a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, the guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner in the sanctuary, transformed into a reception hall. The buffet menu included grilled chicken breast marinated in garlic, lemon, and rosemary; ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese and covered in a rich gorgonzola cream sauce; primavera pasta tossed with fresh vegetables in a tomato basil sauce; mixed green salad with carrots, tomatoes, balsamic dressing and gorgonzola cheese; and fresh sourdough bread with an olive oil and pesto dipping sauce.

I can't wait to work at this venue again!

For a beautiful outdoor ceremony, the garden area seats up to 300 guests. Indoors, the main sanctuary seats 275 guests for a ceremony, or 175 for a reception. For more information, contact Anna Cremarosa, facility coordinator (who, by the way, was on hand the entire day to help with anything needed). You can reach Anna at 626-449-3460 x 13.

Happy Planning!
